Launch of Robotein as a research site of Instruct Centre Belgium
Meeting
Date: 14-Feb-2020
On 14 February, the Robotein® facility at the Centre for Protein Engineering (CIP, University of Liège) and the Structural Biology and Bioinformatics Centre (SBBC, ULB) will be formally launched as an Instruct-ERIC research site. To welcome the Robotein® facility to Instruct Centre Belgium, Instruct-ERIC and the Centre for Protein Engineering are hosting a launch event at the University of Liège.
The launch event will explore the advances in technology and infrastructure that are revolutionising the way in which we handle large numbers of protein samples towards interpretation of molecular and cellular functions, and demonstrate how integrative approaches are connecting high-throughput (HT) protein production and analysis with atomic-level structure and functionality at the cellular level.
The launch event will display expertise of the Robotein® facility and showcase the two robotic workstations of the Microlab STAR line, the LabChip GXII system for automated electrophoretic separation of proteins, and the Octet HTX platform for both HT analysis of biomolecular interactions and protein quantification. Furthermore, it will show how the combination of a protein microarrayer with FTIR imaging provides information on protein identity, post-translational modifications and conformation. Finally, it will provide a chance to discover the funded research opportunities that are available through Instruct - including machine access, training, internships and R&D pilot project awards. As for our industrial partners, Instruct-ERIC provides a single point of entry to a wide range of state-of-the-art structural biology techniques and expertise.
As well as short talks from experts in protein science, academic authorities, scientific funding agencies, regulatory/supervisory political authorities, and Instruct Hub staff members, there will be an opportunity to tour the facility on offer through Instruct, and to ask your scientific questions directly to the specialists.
The event programme can be found below.
Location: Université de Liège, Campus du Sart-Tilman, Quartier AGORA, place des Orateurs 34000 Liège. Building B31 (Faculty of Law), ‘Faculty’ and ‘Conseil’ rooms
