An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Partho Ghosh (UC San Diego, Dept. of Biochemistry & Molecular Biophysics).
The project focuses on the structural and mechanistic basis of antibody recognition of M and M-like proteins of Strep A (Streptococcus pyogenes). The work will integrate structural biology, biochemistry, and functional assays (microbiological and immunological) to define the molecular basis of protective antibody responses to this important human pathogen. The goal is to uncover the structural and mechanistic basis of protective antibody responses that overcome the extreme sequence variability of M proteins.
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in protein biochemistry, as well as either experience or strong interest in structural biology (X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, or related methods). Experience with immunology or microbiology is welcomed but not required.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, or a related field and a strong publication record.
