Post Doctoral Position at CERM

CERM/CIRMMP, Florence, Italy
Application deadline: 31 Oct 2013

A post-doctoral position is available in the group of Lucia Banci at the Magnetic Resonance Center (CERM), University of Florence (Italy). The post-doc will be involved in the projects addressing the biological and structural description of the molecular mechanisms responsible of the maturation of iron-sulphur proteins. The post-doc will employ molecular, cellular and biochemical approaches to produce several proteins involved in the iron-sulphur assembly machineries and then to investigate their molecular function by protein-protein interaction studies. This project will provide an attractive balance of molecular and biochemical approaches providing the successful applicant with a broad and competitive skill-set.

CERM is an infrastructure for the Life Sciences and is very well equipped for all aspects of modern structural biology, with state-of-the-art laboratories for molecular biology, recombinant expression in bacterial system, biochemistry, biophysics, NMR and X-ray crystallography. For further details visit www.cerm.unifi.it.

Applicants should possess a PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry or chemistry. Experience with recombinant DNA techniques, high-quality protein expression and purification and protein characterisation (such as protein-protein interaction analyses) is required. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual who can work both independently as well as harmoniously within a small group of investigators. Interested candidates should send a cover letter, CV, and contact info of three references to Lucia Banci (banci@cerm.unifi.it). The position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found. Informal enquires are also welcome.

The position, formally a researcher contract with the University of Florence (assegno di ricerca), is available immediately and is initially offered for a period of one year but with the possibility to renew the position up to four years.
