6th Meeting of Young Biophysicists – Biophysics Festival 2026

Announcing the upcoming 6th Biophysics Festival 2026! Join us in Coimbra on 11th-12th June for an exciting event! This meeting represents an informal and supportive environment for young researchers to network and present their work.

 

The event will take place at Auditorium C7.2, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC), in Coimbra, Portugal.

 

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Sharon Bryant (CEO at Inte:Ligand GmbH) - "Harnessing Biophysics Data for Next Generation Pharmacophore Modeling and Accurate Virtual Screening"
  • Dr. Thomas Boesen (Aarhus University) - "Cable bacteria conductive machinery revealed by cryogenic electron tomography'
  • Margarida Cordeiro (Coimbra Chemistry Centre) - "Passive Transport across Cell Membranes beyond the Overton Rule: Insights from Solute Exchange in Vesicles and Molecular Dynamics of Atropisomers"

 

Young Portuguese Biophysicists (PYBPHY) group will offer five international grants (€100 each), along with free registration, to support non-Portuguese students attending the 6th Meeting of Young Biophysicists – Biophysics Festival 2026.

 

To apply, candidates must be BSc, MSc, or PhD students residing outside Portugal and submit an abstract by April 22, 2026. In addition, applicants should send an email to Prof. Dr. Sandra Ribeiro (sribeiro@i3s.up.pt) and to pybiophysicists.spbf@gmail.com with the subject line:
“Application for International Grant – Biophysics Festival 2026 – [Your Name]”

Students from the University of Coimbra who wish only to attend the event may benefit from a reduced registration fee of €25!

 

Participants are reminded to register via our Google Form and submit their abstracts by April 22, 2026, following the template on our website. Submissions are welcome for flash communications, oral presentations, and poster sessions.
