Across two days the workshop will help current, prospective, and potential users working on a wide spectrum of tomography applications across Diamond’s Imaging and Microscopy beamlines.
The workshop aims to ensure that the tomography users at Diamond are comfortable with the HTTomo reconstruction software: from building bespoke pipelines to submitting jobs and interpreting the results.
The event will:
What is HTTomo?
HTTomo (High Throughput Tomography software) is a Python-based framework for the processing and reconstruction of parallel-beam tomography data. Developed by the Data Analysis Group at Diamond Light Source and initiated in 2022, HTTomo was created to address the increasing demands of large-scale tomography experiments.
With the Diamond-II upgrade, the volume, complexity, and resolution of tomography data are expected to grow significantly. HTTomo leverages advances in High-Performance Computing (HPC) and multi-GPU technologies to enable efficient data streaming, accelerated processing, and high-throughput reconstruction of large datasets, helping researchers analyse data faster and at greater scale.
Agenda
The event will include an introduction to the imaging and tomography beamlines at Diamond (including tours), talks on the theory and background of tomography reconstruction as well as practical tutorial session on data processing and reconstruction with HTTomo, including submitting jobs to the cluster from a command line and via the web browser.

Application
Attendance is by application. In the case of oversubscription there will be a limit on attendees. Participants will be selected on a fair distribution basis across research groups, giving priority to early career scientists, and those who are users or potential users of Diamond imaging beamlines.
If your application is successful, there will be a £150 fee to attend the event. Accommodation, meals and refreshments will be provided throughout the event and will be included in the fee. Applicants will be required to cover the cost of their transport to and from Diamond. We will provide more information on accommodation and travel to successful applicants once confirmed.
Timeline: Please apply by 09:00 on Monday 7 September. Applications will be reviewed and decisions communicated by Friday 18 September.
