Diamond on-site user training - Going further in MX: Advanced experiments at Diamond

Meeting
Date: 24-Jun-2026 to 25-Jun-2026

The macromolecular crystallography (MX) group at Diamond is pleased to announce the next on-site user training of 2026 at Diamond Light Source on 24th - 25th June 2026: Going further in MX: Advanced experiments at Diamond.

The aim of this training is to provide established Diamond MX users with further training in advanced experimental techniques available at Diamond including sample preparation and biophysics, protein dynamics, fragment screening, micro-/nano-crystallography, phasing/anomalous diffraction and the associated data analysis tools available for these techniques.

Sessions include:

  • Small Crystals (VMXm & MX data analysis)
  • Proteins in Motion (XFEL hub/I24 & MX data analysis)
  • What's my Atom? (I23 & MX data analysis)
  • Drug Discovery (XChem & MX data analysis)
  • Challenging Samples (MX Crystallisation facility and Membrane Protein Laboratory (MPL))

Some of the these sessions will also provide opportunities for participants to bring their own samples to use during the workshop such as the challenging samples and small crystals sessions. Financial support to attend the training is available to UK based users.

To apply, and for further information, please see dls.mx/training. The closing date for applications is 12:00 noon (BST) Monday 18th May 2026.

A further on-site training event providing a refresher for Diamond MX users in all things MX will occur in late September 2026. If you are a new or less experienced user to Diamond MX, we offer an Introduction to Diamond MX training event, generally early in the year.
