Jobs in Structural Biology and Related Fields

2 postdoc positions available in structural cell biology (neuron/cancer) at NIH

United States
Application deadline: 30 Sep 2026

We are looking for 2 postdocs to join the Laboratory of Structural Cell Biology at the NHLBI, NIH (Bethesda, USA). Our lab studies how cellular architecture and molecular organization control biological function. We combine in situ cryo-ET/cryo-EM, single-particle cryo-EM, cell biology, biochemistry, and computational image analysis to understand cellular and disease mechanisms at molecular resolution.

Our research areas include:

  • In situ structural biology of neuronal injury, axon repair, and regeneration
  • in situ cryo-EM/ET analysis of cytoskeletal and membrane remodeling
  • Integrative analysis of cell signaling, membrane organization, and disease-associated cellular states
  • Subtomogram analysis, structural interpretation, and integration with functional cell biology
  • Development of new workflows for connecting cellular phenotypes to molecular mechanisms

We welcome candidates with a background in cryo-EM/cryo-ET, structural biology, cell biology, biophysics, neuroscience, membrane biology, cytoskeleton, or biochemistry. Candidates with strong biological or structural training who are eager to learn in situ structural workflows are also encouraged to apply. This position is best suited for a candidate who enjoys integrative and technically challenging research.

The lab provides a collaborative environment with abundant access to state-of-the-art cryo-EM/cryo-ET instrumentation and computational resources. Salary will follow NIH postdoctoral stipend guidelines, and it is very competitive. Interested applicants should send a CV and contact information for three references.
